While Adobe might be saying it's doing right by developers in open-sourcing Flex, it's really just spinning the fact it will no longer support it.

Flex developers are lucky. Flex wasn't making enough money for Adobe. They could have killed it, sold it, or open-sourced it. By open-sourcing Flex, it's easier for third parties to support and enhance Flex. Open-sourcing Flex was the most developer friendly thing Adobe could do.
