It is not important that you share my personal opinion about HTML5 & CSS3: "Most of the mobile apps don't need native apps. They are cool, but to expensive to develop, test and maintain. Web applications are form the economic point of view in a lot of cases more reasonable."

In this article we are going to see how to play around with the Media Player Launcher task, with this Media Player task we can provide with in the application to launch a media player and play a video or audio file. We can provide a list of media files that can be played one by one, along with we have option to make use of the Media play back controls like rewind and stop to skip or rerun the media file. Media file location can be as a resource file or we can also use an Isolated storage to store and retrieve the file while rendering the player to play the respective file. Let us see the steps on how to use this task in a Windows Phone application development.

Using Reactive Extensions to smooth compass data in Windows Phone

The challenge is to take the raw compass heading data, and smooth it out over time so the UI element this data is bound to (such as an arrow) won't be jittery. You can see this jitter in the SDK example for the Compass: the CurrentValueChanged event handler is fired every 20ms and jitters within the error margin for the hardware. Our task is to smooth out these data readings for a more pleasant user interface. And to make it fun, we'll be using Reactive Extensions.

Editorial: Why cheaper Xbox Live games are bad for Windows Phone

While the Marketplace is nearing its first 100,000 apps and the quality has so far managed to hold its own, the only platform with native Xbox Live integration still can't definitively say it's 'the best platform for gaming' simply because they don't have the same arms race of innovation, graphics or gameplay mechanics as other platforms like iOS and Android.
