In heroku's defense, they support other languages, not just Java. They also have support for Play! Play! support is #1 voted feature on Jelastic.

While Jelastic looks promising (and BTW they also support Ruby on Rails via JRuby), I would hardly call them a "big player" at this point, since they are just coming out of beta, with commercial availability next month.
